Oprah and Saving Money

So I'm not an Oprah Fan, I'ld ratherspend my time growing than by watching a person who recomends books about crazy spirituality, but this week I'm trying to find some ways for us to cut costs and save money. Here's an article I read quickly and my thoughts

http://www.oprah.com/world/Shift-Your-Habit-to-a-Fresh-Start-This-Spring-Elizabeth-Rogers/1

1. There are some useless ideas - Suntaning Really, I would be a lobster if I sun tanned!
2. Use old towels instead of paper towels ... I think I've been on the same roll of paper towels since Christmas.
3. Always wash with cold water - Ok, this is one I know in my head but I just keep forgetting to adjust my washer. I have to set it for cold every load, and with food covered baby clothes I worry they wont come out clean. But I'm willing to try it.
4. Make new things out of your left over food - Yes, this one basically is eat your left overs. Do people actually throw out their leftovers? I save even the tinyest bit and feed it to Jaden for snacks or meals. Really... eat your leftovers. This section includes suggestings like cutting a bruise off of your fruit and eating the rest of it. COME ON PEOPLE. It is food! Eat it! Apparently it is saving me $520 a year just by eating.
5. Toy Swap - ok, I did really like this idea of swapping toys that aren't being used with friends who have kids around the same age. It would work if any of my friends had kids or if I wasn't already trying to be a minimalist with our toys by having as few as possible.
6. Clothing Swap - love the idea. If only my sister (who's exactly my size) wasn't a starving student and had clothes.

Other ideas included making home made cleaners which my friend Leigh opened my eyes to. I think I'm going to try out the toilet cleaner idea. I have horrible water!

Off to finish dinner.
