Baby?

Over the weekend I got the call I've been dreading and excited about for the past month. Holly was in labour. My friend Holly and I have been friends since we were 17, and with the adventurous turn he life took in the past few months, she suddenly was in need of a stand in husband and friend. I was privillaged enough to be that person.

So there I was on Sunday walking casually through my friend's door to find her on the couch in full constant labour. Thankfully the doulas and the midwife had beat me there and there was only an hour left until it was all over. It was an experience I will never forget. What an amazing thing to be able to be there for a friend and there for the birth of another beautiful baby girl.

I went home to work on Monday morning and then drove back to stay with Holly for a few days with my own little one. While there we spent a few hours trying to figure out what to name the baby girl she was so sure would be a boy. I left her today sleeping in her living room with one daughter off to school and the other curled up beside her on the bed.

So now .. do I really want to have a baby naturally... I'm thinking that 7 months of agony waiting for adoption papers really wasn't all that bad.
