Music = Pain sometimes

My goal before music camp is to get my fingers back into the music. I have rarely played guitar for longer then 5 minutes a day in the past 9 months since the arrival of the child I lovingly refer to as Monkey. Tonight I scouted out some worship songs I've wanted to learn and transposed them into singable keys. Tomorrow I start the serious playing of at least 30 minutes non-stop. I have to get calloses back onto my fingers and get over the pain before camp, otherwise camp becomes a week of sore fingers and trying not to pop the blisters instead of learning more challenging songs, chords, and riffs. I really should have started playing atleast a week ago to get my muscles back into it too, but it didn't occur to me until today.

I am so looking forward to camp. I'm always horrible disapointed that camp is still in the 90's when it comes to songs we sing and learn, but I can't help but love the wealth of musical gifts and tallents that God has blessed everyone with, and the opportunities to learn that don't often come into my life like they do at camp.

Not looking forward to putting Monkey to sleep every night in a new place (I type as I listen to him scream from his bedroom right now while his father tries to put him to sleep and has been trying for 1.5 hours so far). We are away quite a bit visiting family and friends, I am starting to think he does better going to sleep when we are away from home then at home sticking to our schedule. Oh the Joys of Parenting.

I can't wait until camp though. So excited!
