House cleaning

In the past month I watched a show on TV while folding laundry about de-cluttering your house. I then went in to a frenzy getting rid of things and trying to pair down how much "stuff" we have. I can't seem to part with any of Jaden's toys .... I'm still learning how to do this I guess. I've been thinking a lot lately of how to improve my house, how to make it cleaner, how to keep it cleaner, how to make it a home.

All of those TV shows about renovating your home and how to make your home beautiful are taking away precious time from families, that is what I've decided. We see on TV those perfect homes and how easy it is for those people to have perfection and we start asking ourselves why we can't have that ... and then we start striving to atain it.

I've been reading a few articles in the Toronto star this week about having a messy house, and accepting it (Article) (this person just wrote a book and is trying to sell it, so it gives small hints but nothing ground breaking on how to do this, why give it away when you can sell the book right?) I love the reality check, that our houses should be homes, not stuffy sparkly display models. And I love the fact that she is stressing how much time we can get back to spend quality time with our families, just by changing our focus and perspective on house cleaning.

So, I just thought it was neat.
