So yesterday while wipeing off the table on our porch so Jaden and I could eat dinner outside, I heard my front door close ... and lock.
LOCK
Jaden had just locked me out of the house, with dinner in the oven, the timmer only 2 minutes left on it before dinner was ready, and a toddler locked in the house.
I found it hilarious. I prayed, trusted he wouldn't hurt himself while in there alone, and then laughed really really hard. I'm sure my neighbours thought I was crazy.
With Pete working very late each night, I knew I still had hours to wait until he got home. So I had to convince a toddler to unlock the door, something he's never done before. Logically he got my purse, found my keys, and then spent ten minutes ignoring me as he tried to stick my keys into the lock. How do you explain to a toddler that you don't need the keys to unlock the door from the inside. I finally convinced him to put the keys down and use his fingers to turn the handle. It took another 20 minutes to get it unlocked, but he did it!
The salmon was burned, but I learned an important lesson, never step out of the house without my keys, and laughter makes everything better.

This is amazing. What was his reaction to his mummy being locked outside? Was he worried or did he find it hilarious?
ReplyDeleteHe was a little distressed because he wanted to be outside with me, and he was upset I wasn't letting him out.
